Bitok International tournament set for May return

Winners of the tournament are set to win Ksh 100,000

Organisers of the Paul Bitok Foundation-sponsored International volleyball tournament have released dates for the postponed matches. 

Action will be at Kasarani Indoor Arena on 5 to 6 May. The four semi finals will be played on Friday 5 May while the third place and final matches are scheduled for 6 May. 

The tournament preliminaries and quarters were held at Nyayo and Ulinzi Complex (for men) and Kasarani (women) simultaneously on 7 and u April. 

The semis and final had been slated for 9 April but were postponed following the untimely demise of Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) president Waithaka Kioni who passed away early that morning. 

Paul Bitok, in an interview said havjng the matches in May would help teams that will shortly after that be departing for the Africa Club Championships set for Tunisia next month.

Tunis will host the men's tournament from 9-22 May while the women's showpiece will take place from 13-26 May. 

Action on 5 May gets underway at 9am with KVF women's league champions Kenya Pipeline taking on former champions Prisons Kenya in the first semi final.

At 11am, African Club champions KCB fight for a place in the final against Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in the other women's semi. 

Former men's league champions Prisons Kenya play league bronze medalists Trailblazers in the first semi slated for 2pm, paving way for a clash between Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) and Kenya Ports Authority (KPA). 

Saturday's action is also set to begin at 9am and 11 am with the women's and men's third-place matches respectively with the finals set for 2pm and 4pm.
